Ground Check uses a range of equipment including Mexecone and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) equipment, which provides a rapid and cost effective test for use in highway design. The tests are normally undertaken at road formation level or in trial pits at depths specified by the design Engineer.

The recorded CBR value is related to design charts presented in DMRB HD25 to determine the necessary thickness of a capping layer; or requirement for sub-base reinforcement /stabilization measures.
